This is all the more surprising in view of the fact that the composer himself studied as a pianist. Influences from Wagner, Brahms and the Romantic tradition of piano music are mingled in astonishing fashion with melodies and modulation techniques that are typical of Weill?s early works.
This Intermezzo is a real find for Weill fans, as the four-minute
piece was only given its first performance in 1999 and is published here for the first time. |
